Fretz Small Jeweler's Hammers

Bill Fretz's new hammers are scaled-down versions of traditional silversmithing hammers. He miniaturized them so that the shaping and forming versatility of silvermithing hammers could now be applied to smaller projects such as jewelry making. Each tool has a 420 stainless steel head hardened to 50Rc and polished to a mirror-bright finish. Handles are meticulously fashioned from rosewood, shaped to provide perfect balance and control. Styles include Planishing, Raising, Embossing, and Texturing.

Equipped with one plastic end that is installed with a hex wrench (provided). The flat plastic end forms metal while leaving it smooth. The metal end of the hammer head is slightly domed to make it easier to strike flat and slightly domed metal surfaces. 19mm dia. faces.

Includes 9 plastic faces that work metal without leaving marks. Faces are installed with the included hex wrench and replicate the shapes of planishing, embossing, and raising hammers. For embossing narrow pod or oblong shapes. Smoother overlapping marks are more easily attained on long thin shapes than would be possible with a round embossing hammer. Ideal for chasing articles embedded in pitch. Faces measure 20 x 6 mm and 20 x 7 mm.

Its wider, longer profile makes this hammer ideal to block bowls or broad strips of metal into concave shapes. Like any embossing hammer, this hammer's purpose is to stretch metal from the inside. Ideal for chasing broad concave objects. Faces measure 20 x11 mm and 18 x 8 mm.
